About this Initiative

The U.S.-Cuba Policy Initiative seeks to take advantage of recent developments to redirect U.S.-Cuba policy towards a more sensible, mutually beneficial relationship. This requires forging a new consensus of national stakeholders on an engagement strategy with Cuba to replace the failed, 50-year-old strategy of isolating Cuba and its citizens.

The overall focus of the initiative is to build the policy alternatives, intellectual capital and a new network of policy stakeholders designed to push the issue past a “tipping point.” To facilitate this, the initiative will work with the Congress, the Executive, private sector and non-governmental influentials to re-wire the Cuba policy arena for change. As part of this effort, the initiative publishes The Havana Note, one of the leading blogs framing the debate today in Washington.
